Toronto theatre rebuild boosts performance and ticket sales
The project adds Eventbrite ticketing, automated show updates, and simpler management for classes and teacher listings.
Hey all, I'm Mark, a former Webflow engineer turned “I don't really know what yet”
I've been Ploying around rebuilding a small indy comedy/improv theatre in Toronto, and to say it's going well is an understatement.
I managed to migrate the site from Squarespace, build a small backend system for the owner, based on a gist, add an Eventbrite feed so folks can buy tickets on the site without leaving, producers can add new shows and it automatically updates, and they can add and remove the comedy classes and teacher listings easily now too.
Performance went from 16 (yes, 16) to 100 and shows are now starting to show on Google Events.
Owners and external Producers are over the moon as ticket sales are starting to increase, and the classes for the next term have almost sold out!
We haven't touched any Ads yet, this is just 9 weeks of organic change, I haven't looked at a single line of code, and I don't intend to ever again 😆
Feedback is very welcome (critical especially)

I monitor domains going live and saw quite a few entertainment related sites go up in Canada, did you help make some of those word-of-mouth referrals as well?
If you need a Canadian Ploy contact, here I am ! :)
Maybe @Anthony (Ploy) I've spoken about it non stop 😆 hopefully non of the competitors though eh?
Hey @Mark, the site is looking good!
Being Canadian/from Toronto, I'm making stops somewhat regular stops back at the old stomping grounds - would love to attend one of your shows at some point.
Even better- noticed that your comedy club is super close to my friends place!
amazing story Mark and thank you for sharing! great to have you here 😄
@Mark let me know if you wanna do a webinar or something with me one day!
@Fernando Cho Sure, anytime you're around you can DM me and I can sort some comp tickets. Yep, for now it's above the Black Swan, but aiming to grow into bigger premises ~2 years!
@bryant yep, that would be fun, getting the owner in too, who is very funny but has zero technical knowledge might be quite the episode.
omg this would be amazing. cc @Eliana Atia lets figure out when we can make this happen!
and if you did some magic as well that would be 🎆
will send u a DM to coordinate
I'm sure I have a deck of cards or two floating around...
