Make HubSpot data migration work with PloyDB

A custom API workaround succeeded, but native import and historical-data access remain important for automated lead workflows.

Got a fresh one for you:

We recently replaced Hubspot with PloyDB + our home-grown operating system (we call DBOS), storing and managing all of our leads, deals, and events. However, we wanted to back up all of our Hubspot data and make it accessible and fully integrated with our new system. We envisioned a PloyDB with all of our past customer contacts and leads, with simple features layered on top such as: if a new lead comes in through our website that matches one of the contacts from our Hubspot data, flag it and automate certain responses; if a new lead works for a company that we have served in the past, flag it for the account managers; run ploys based on historical lead/contact patterns to spin up campaigns to target a similar audience.

The first plan was to just tell Ploy to migrate all of the Hubspot data over to PloyDB, and use PloyDB as our CRM. Despite rounds of hopeful back and forth with Ploy, it was not able to handle this job for various reasons. We do have Hubspot Integration connected in Ploy (I'd be more than happy to take a deep dive with anyone from Ploy on why this didn't work).

Ultimately, we spun up a new agent that connected to Hubspot through a new API, and it was able to quickly pull all of our data from Hubspot and then work with our DBOS coding agent to structure the upload successfully. Everything we envisioned works now. To still give Ploy the ability to tap into our Hubspot data, we are going to try to connect Ploy into our DBOS database. At the end, we got what we wanted, but deep down I think migrating our past Hubspot data into PloyDB would have still been a better path. Happy to chat more to solve this for the future.
